Batteries contain heavy metals that can contaminate landfills. Instead of tossing them in the garbage, order an iRecycle kit from Battery Solutions (this does cost $35 from
www.batteryrecycling.com). Fill the kit, which holds 12 lbs., with any type of battery, including rechargeable. Drop off the prepaid box to any post office or FedEx location and the company will recycle the batteries per EPA regulations.
